Really Flavorful Asian Turkey Burgers

A quick update to this post, I remade these again today for lunch and made two changes that made these really juicy- I added two additional spoons of Soy Sauce and 2 spoons of Worcestershire sauce and I added some left over pickled onions that I used for my Spicy Poblano Burgers I made, check out that post from earlier this week.  Also, I used 99% lean turkey meat.

Man did I find an amazing Turkey Burger recipe!  I’ve made Turkey Burgers so many times but none of the recipes ever made it to my blog, just tasteless and bland. So, I was excited to finally find this full of flavor recipe at Serious Eats.

The highlighted ingredient to any dish is the sauce, so be generous on adding that Siracha to the Mayo, as the more heat the better it tastes.  This killer sauce combined with the green onions, soy sauce, cilantro and bread crumbs in the turkey meat gives it so much flavor.  This is a great idea of what you can prepare for your crowd that will be joining you for the Super Bowl game.   Also, try using Sandwhich thins Multi Grain Bread- this bread only has 100 calories.

Ingredients

  • For the mayo:
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Sriracha (or make your own!)
  • For the burgers:
  • 1 1/2 lbs ground turkey, 85% lean
  • 1/2 cup Panko bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped cilantro
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 scallions, finely chopped
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Bibb lettuce
  • 1 tomato, cut into 1/4-inch slices
  • Hamburger buns
  • Type of fire: direct
  • Grill heat: medium-high
  • Procedure

    1. To make the Sriracha mayo, mix together the mayonnaise and Sriracha in a small bowl and set aside

    2. Using your hands, mix together all of the ingredients for the burgers in a large bowl until just fully incorporated. Scoop out about 1/3 lb of the mixture and form into a patty. Repeat with the remaining meat mixture until all us

    3. Use Grill Pan on the stove with Olive Oil spray for a healthy take. Remove from the grill and spread some Sriracha mayo on each side of the buns. Place the finished burgers on the buns, top with Bibb lettuce and tomato slices, and serve.
