I improvised using black bean garlic sauce found in the Asian section of the grocery store instead of the fermented black beans. Kevin has informed me fermented black beans can be found in the Asian supermarkets. I also used two tablespoons of chili pepper flakes and two tablespoons of chili garlic sauce for an extra punch.
